Benefits of Cosmetic Acupuncture
- Our aim is to leave your skin looking and feeling more vibrant, youthful, and healthy.
- A holistic approach addressing your physical appearance and internal imbalances leaving you feeling rejuvenated from the inside out.
- A natural and less-invasive alternative to injections, chemical peels and micro dermabrasion.
- A beautifying treatment with less risk, minimal side effects and at a lower cost than other cosmetic procedures.
What We Aim to Do
- 1-3 weeks – more radiant and better hydrated skin.
- 4-8 weeks – skin is more toned and tightened while the lines of the face are softening.
- 9-12 weeks – more significant and visible results.
Please note that while cosmetic acupuncture is a powerful approach, it is an organic process which does not erase all signs of ageing. This approach is designed to have you looking and feeling your best. Results can vary as every individual has their own unique response to the treatment process. The healthier you are the faster your results will generally appear.
Treatment
Practitioners
Dr Sandra Wu and Dr Julia Cho both have a special interest in cosmetic acupuncture.
Main Body of Treatment
Your treatment will begin with a few acupuncture points along the body to address tension and internal imbalances. This helps you to relax during the treatment. This is then followed by some gentle facial acupuncture, addressing your requirements while restoring balance and fresh blood flow to the fine capillaries of the face.
Lifestyle Advice
As a healthy lifestyle contributes to the health of your overall body, which is reflected in the face, you will receive lifestyle advice during the initial consultation. This may include factors around your diet, exercise regime and down time.
How Cosmetic Acupuncture Works
Skin
On a cellular level facial acupuncture may boost collagen and elastin production. The fine needles used produce small, invisible tears in the skin, which stimulates the body to begin the healing process. This process begins with the activation of the immune system which encourages the skin to produce stronger collagen and elastin bonds in the area resulting in the softening of lines and toning of the skin.
Blood Circulation
Dark spots, a dull complexion and uneven skin tone can be improved with facial needling techniques as they encourage micro circulation and fresh blood flow to the skin while removing waste and dead skin cells.
Facial Muscles
The formation of a deep line or wrinkle begins in the muscle. Facial needling stimulates the muscles and tendons to either lift sagging areas or release tension. Techniques which soften lines incorporate the relaxation or toning of muscles.
Number of Treatment Sessions
A series of cosmetic acupuncture treatments is usually required as it is an organic process and optimal rejuvenation takes time.
At your initial visit, we will discuss your goals and advise how many treatments you may need.
Is it painful?
Cosmetic acupuncture is not painful. The insertion of the needles is very shallow with only a small prick felt at most. The needles used are of the highest quality designed specifically for comfortable and smooth insertion. In fact, it is common for clients to find facial acupuncture relaxing and to catch up on some sleep during treatment!

- broken skin, cold sores, scabs, active acne, rashes
